What is Telescoping Tubing?
Telescoping tubing refers to a system of tubes designed to slide within one another, much like the segments of a telescope. This is achieved through a precise manufacturing process that ensures each tube in the set has a slightly smaller diameter than the previous one, allowing for smooth sliding and a snug fit when nested.

Telescopic tubing reduces labor costs and eliminates the need for specialized equipment. The ability to replace sections rather than the entire post further enhances cost efficiency.
How Do Telescoping Tubes Work?
In order for each consecutive size of tubing to fit securely and snugly within the next - without any resistance or impediments while sliding together - high-speed roll-forming technology with high-frequency resistance welding must be utilized to achieve smooth corner welds with exacting tolerances. The inside diameter (ID) of the outer square tube is only slightly larger that the Outside Diameter (OD) of the inner piece of sqaure tubing, so any excess, or imprecise welds could prevent tubes from sliding together.
The Telespar® perforated sign post is produced through this unique manufacturing process, which is what allows our tubular sections of different sizes to telescope together so precisely. Telespar telescoping tubing is available in both 12 and 14 gauge galvanized steel, in a range of OD Tube sizes from 1-1/2" through 2-1/2" square, in 1/4" increments. In 10 gauge, Telespar posts are available in 2-3/16" and 2-1/2" telescoping post - the added material thickness requires more than 1/4" between telescoping sizes.

The square shape of Telespar telescipic tubing enables you to mount signs back-to-back and on adjacent sides, making them a highly effective solution for mounting multiple signs, facing in multiple directions, and allowing for visibility from all four directions, if necessary. This versatility gives them an advantage over u channel, which only allows to two-direction sing mounting directly to the post. Square tube is also stronger and more readily available than round tube, as welll as easier to install.
For these reasons square telescoping tubing is typically the preferred sign post for many traffic control applications, including municipal signage, parking lots, and other settings.

- Attach a drive cap to the top of a 36" - 48" base post
- Drive all but the last 4" of the post into the ground
- Telescope the top post into the base post
- Secure with corner bolt and jam nut
